Desperate Housewives

Every Sunday some girlfriends and I get together to watch Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters. I missed tv night last week, so I was surprised to find out that as a result of the plane crash, Orson now uses a wheelchair.

So, for the second week in a row, I am blogging about television and people with disabilities. Both shows have really impressed me in the langauge they have used. Both Glee and Desperate Housewives have used people first langauge and been very respectful of the person with the disability-it's a nice change.

What are your thoughts?

Glee & Wheels

Good afternoon everyone -

Last night I was watching a repeat of Glee I'd not seen yet on FOX. (If you've not seen the show, I personally LOVE it! It's a musical, drama and comedy all rolled into one.) There are many different characters on the show, one of whom uses a wheelchair. Last night I learned that he started using a chair at age 8 after he survived a car accident.

The heart of the story was about accepting people of all abiliities. It was a very compassionate episode and really made you think about accessibility issues people with disabilities face.

Attached is a link to watch the episode. Watch it and let me know what you think.
